This syllabus will outline the objectives and requirements for the Cinema 4D course at RMHS.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
This course will provide an introduction to the tools, modeling, animation, shading and rendering techniques used in the computer application Cinema 4D.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Each Student is required to do the following
• all class assignments completed and saved on their flash drive. ** ( remember you final project for the semester will involve your ability to use the techniques and tools learned from all assignments and tutorials in the class)
• Two one-page reports analyzing selected movies played during class.
• Two one-page research papers about artists currently working in the field of 3D generated art. Sources must be listed and the paper will be written using Chicago Style format ** ( see hand-out)
• Attendance (This will affect 25 percent of your final grade)
• Participation in class discussions and critiques
• Presentation of final project. (Final project parameters to be announced at the beginning of the second quarter.
• Tests will be administered periodically checking for understanding of vocabulary and C4D interface tools.
** Any sites that are visited during class that do not pertain to classroom learning will be noted. This will result in a loss of that days attendance points.
** These are very important and will be graded.
ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Each day is worth 5 percentage points this adds up to 25 percent of your overall grade. Since there are numerous demonstrations, class critiques and the Cinema 4D application is only available for use in the Computer lab, attendance is mandatory at each class. Tardies or absences (excused or unexcused will result in a loss of that days attendance points. If the absence is excused, it is your responsibility to come in after school or during my office hours to make up your lost time. Your five points will then be recorded as made up. Unexcused absences cannot be made up!!!
THE BOTTOM LINE (GRADING)
Individual project grades will be based on effort, interpretation of the assignment, effort, artistic expression and creativity, effort, craftsmanship, effort, participation in class discussions, and (of course) effort.

PROJECT DUE DATES
Assignments are expected at the beginning of class on the due date. Only assignments that are completed on time will receive full credit. If you know that you will not be in class on a project due date, it is up to you to turn it in before the due date or arrange for someone to turn it in for you. Projects will lose one point for each day that they are late.
