A student had requested a tutorial for modeling a head using templates. I found a link on 4dcafe.com. Thought I would share it with you all. It seems to be pretty comprehensive and is a great introduction to polygonal modeling.

Simple Walk Cycle Animation in Cinema 4D

If you don’t have Cinema 4D R13 yet, and we don’t, then here is a tutorial on setting up a simple walk cycle for your character in Cinema 4D. There is some extended tutorial information on F-Curves, etc. But the first 15 minutes shows you how to set-up a basic walk cycle that works. The artist/tutorial designer, a.k.a. M dot Strange, is quite funny and makes it fairly easy to understand.

Scaling A Rigged And Bound Mesh In C4D

This question perplexed me when asked by a student. I has thought about adding the mesh and the rig into a null object, but did not think about using ‘Use Object Tool’ to scale down the model. Easy Peasy, it worked like a charm. This question again, was answered on the c4dcafe.com forums by atarigraffx…. Here is a link to the original post.

1. Put all objects of A your rig and mesh under a Null Object.

2. Select ‘Use Object Tool’ from the left side tools menu

Falling Leaves

I was headed out to rake leaves this weekend and in the spirit of Fall, I thought I would see if I could hastily simulate leaves falling using Cinema 4D R13…. The file is uploaded as c4D R13 in the ‘Box’ widget. Download the Cinema 4D R13 demo if you do not own it and open the file to deconstruct the parameters. I was messing around with some textures that I got from buzhug.com for making leaves, added Mograph and some Simulation tags…..It is a simple setup…..I am sure with a bit of time, the possibilities could be quite raffish. This could be done with more flexibility if someone wanted to put together a little Xpresso rig and Thinking Particles…..Clean it up, fix it, make it work well and send it back. I’d love to learn something new…Cheers, Mr. M

Update: I uploaded an R12 Version. A tutorial will be posted to youtube shortly for this.
